Understand what happens when you use our tools and sample product journeys.
Calculator and journey inputs
Calculators, comparisons, and guided journeys process your selections in the browser. These tools do not submit inputs to a lender or collect names, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, or credit applications. Most inputs reset on reload. Rate Lab saves a scenario in browser storage only when you choose Save; use Clear saved scenario to remove it. Saved scenarios are local to that browser, not an account profile.
Downloads and links
A downloaded plan is created on your device. You decide whether to share it. External links take you to other organizations, whose privacy practices and terms apply to their services. We do not control those websites.
Contact inquiries
When you submit a website inquiry, we receive your email address, message, selected inquiry type and site section, and any name, page address, or device information you choose to include. Digital Edge Media Group, LLC uses this information to handle the inquiry and respond when needed. Messages are delivered through Mailgun and our email providers. Inquiry text and contact details are not sent as analytics events or recorded by Clarity. Please do not include account numbers, passwords, or sensitive financial documents.
Hosting and access
RatesMatter is operated by Digital Edge Media Group, LLC and hosted on Vercel. The hosting platform processes technical connection information and security logs to deliver and protect the site.
Optional analytics
If you accept analytics, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics 4 to measure visits and engagement. Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling, and masked session activity on informational pages. Clarity is excluded from calculators, Rate Lab, comparisons, the homepage calculator, and guided financial journeys. We do not send calculator values or form entries as analytics events. Optional analytics remains off until you accept.
Your choices
Use Privacy choices in the footer to accept or reject optional analytics at any time. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Turning analytics off clears accessible analytics cookies and reloads the page to stop the tracking scripts. Google and Microsoft process analytics data under their own privacy policies. Sample inquiries
The marketplace walkthrough uses fixed, fictional contact details. Choosing a timeline or completing the sample does not create a lead, authorize contact, or send information to a provider. A live inquiry service would identify recipients, describe data use and retention, and obtain required consent before collecting and sharing contact details.
Analytics providers
After you accept, we and our analytics providers use cookies and similar technologies to understand site usage and improve the site. Google Analytics measures visits and engagement. Microsoft Clarity provides heatmaps and masked session replays of eligible informational pages. This setup does not enable Microsoft Advertising or advertising personalization.
