Calculator and journey inputs

Calculators, comparisons, and guided journeys process your selections in the browser. These tools do not submit inputs to a lender or collect names, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, or credit applications. Most inputs reset on reload. Rate Lab saves a scenario in browser storage only when you choose Save; use Clear saved scenario to remove it. Saved scenarios are local to that browser, not an account profile.

Downloads and links

A downloaded plan is created on your device. You decide whether to share it. External links take you to other organizations, whose privacy practices and terms apply to their services. We do not control those websites.

Advertiser links

Links on listings labeled Sponsored Listing may pass through an external advertising network before reaching the provider. That network and the provider receive the connection information needed to handle your visit and may use their own tracking technologies under their own policies. RatesMatter does not append calculator inputs, contact information, advertising click IDs, or our temporary page/event identifiers to the approved advertiser destination. Privacy choices controls RatesMatter measurement; it does not control tracking on external services you choose to visit.

Contact inquiries

When you submit a website inquiry, we receive your email address, message, selected inquiry type and site section, and any name, page address, or device information you choose to include. Digital Edge Media Group, LLC uses this information to handle the inquiry and respond when needed. Messages are delivered through Mailgun and our email providers. Inquiry text and contact details are not sent as analytics events or recorded by Clarity. Please do not include account numbers, passwords, or sensitive financial documents.

Hosting and access

RatesMatter is operated by Digital Edge Media Group, LLC. Our hosting provider processes technical connection information and security logs to deliver and protect the site.

Visit measurement

For U.S. visits, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and Microsoft Clarity load by default unless you have turned analytics off. Google Analytics uses analytics cookies to measure visits and engagement. Google receives page and referral information, timestamps, cookie identifiers, and technical connection information. Use Privacy choices in the footer to turn this measurement off. Outside the U.S., or if the hosting platform cannot determine the country, analytics and Clarity wait for your permission.

Clarity recordings

Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling, and masked activity on eligible informational pages and uses its own cookies while active. For U.S. visits it is on by default; elsewhere it starts only after you choose Allow analytics and Clarity. Clarity remains excluded from contact forms, calculators, Rate Lab, comparisons, the homepage, and guided financial journeys. We do not send calculator values or form entries as analytics events.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal during a U.S. visit, we limit Google Analytics to cookieless measurement: analytics storage stays denied, so no analytics cookies are set, and Clarity recordings stay off. Google still receives page and referral information, timestamps, and technical connection information for these cookieless measurements. Outside the U.S., a Global Privacy Control signal keeps analytics off. Choose Turn analytics off to stop cookieless measurement as well.

Your choices

Open Privacy choices in the footer and choose Turn analytics off to stop Google Analytics and Clarity, including cookieless measurement. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days when browser storage is available. Existing rejections are respected. Turning analytics off clears accessible analytics cookies and reloads the page to unload tracking scripts. We keep advertising storage, advertising user data, and advertising personalization denied. Listing measurement in RelayYield

Provider links pass through a branded RatesMatter address and our RelayYield redirect service before reaching the provider or its advertising network, including when analytics is off. When measurement is allowed, we count visible product cards, detail opens and provider-link clicks. Temporary page/event identifiers travel on that redirect URL and are removed before reaching the provider or advertising network. It receives a listing ID, product placement, event type, timestamp and random page/event identifiers. This measurement follows the same regional analytics choice described above and stays off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control. It sends no calculator values, application details, names, contact information, full page URLs or advertising click IDs. Connection information reaches our hosting service; the metrics database uses minute-specific IP hashes only for abuse limits, deletes them after ten minutes on subsequent traffic, and keeps delivery-deduplication keys for up to 24 hours. Aggregate counts are retained for up to 400 days, with cleanup on subsequent traffic. These counts are not paid conversions.

Analytics providers

Google Analytics provides visit measurement, with analytics cookies or cookieless measurement, under the regional settings, Global Privacy Control handling, and privacy choices described above. Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and masked session replays are limited to eligible informational pages and follow the same regional settings and choices. This setup does not enable Microsoft Advertising or advertising personalization.
